Fumito Ueda, the lead designer on The Last Guardian, has announced that the release date has been delayed to the dismay of fans worldwide.
Fans of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus have been waiting for a new game from Ueda and company for a long time. Unfortunately we received some bad news when Fumito announced a delay in the game’s release.
The Last Guardian was supposed to be making it to store shelves this holiday season, but Fumito has pushed it out into 2012. The reasoning behind the delay is to make it more challenging and to improve on the quality of the game. No one can fault them for not pushing out a game before it’s finished, but this will definitely be tough to hear for fans eagerly waiting for a new game since Shadow of the Colossus that was released way back in 2005.
To add insult to injury, Sony has announced they will also be delaying the release of the HD remakes of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus which were due out this Spring 2011. All three games, when they are eventually released, will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3.
