Microsoft announced that the long-awaited game Alan Wake will be receiving DLC after its launch in May.
The announcement was made during Microsoft's keynote address at the recent CES 2010. It shouldn't come as a surprise since every other game is receiving DLC, but Alan Wake is joining the club and will offer extra content after the game's release. No word on what it will be or what it will cost you yet though. Alan Wake is being developed to be episodic like a TV show, so post-launch episodes for the game just make sense. Alan Wake is on the home stretch towards its release this spring so hopefully this episode strategy works out better than Alone in the Dark's and comes out quicker than Half-Life 2's.
Alan Wake is hopefully going to be released this May exclusively for the Xbox 360 for now unless it runs into another delay.
Capcom was showing off a new co-op gameplay trailer for Lost Planet 2 at the recent CES2010 and it looks pretty damn cool.
The new Lost Planet 2 trailer has four players fighting to take down a huge boss from the upcoming sequel. It mixes in some cool gameplay footage with some really nice looking in-game cut scenes. In the trailer we get to see a Category G Akid which looks like a huge praying mantis. Fighting a huge boss battle in a game is becoming less and less original at this point with the sheer amount of games implementing this but I still think it is a cool idea. It really adds an extra layer of suspense with something towering over you the whole time. The trailer also shows off a cool weapon called a disc grenade that packs quite a punch.
No release date yet for Lost Planet 2 but it will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. Check out the new co-op gameplay trailer after the jump.Read more...
Ubisoft has released a new co-op trailer for Splinter Cell: Conviction at the recent CES 2010 show in Las Vegas.
The announcement that Splinter Cell: Conviction would include co-op was made back in December and now we get some more details about how it will be used in the game. Patrick Redding, Ubisoft's Co-op Director, was interviewed at the recent CES show about Splinter Cell: Conviction's co-op gameplay. The new trailer gives us glimpses of the new sonar goggles as well as the new and improved snake cam. Both gadgets look awesome and they are both going to change how we play this franchise. Patrick Redding tells us that every gadget that is available to Sam will be available in the multiplayer modes. The new gameplay footage also shows off gameplay footage of Deniable Ops, a new multiplayer mode. The footage of the mode has you taking out every enemy on the map.
Splinter Cell: Conviction is going to be released on February 23rd for Xbox 360 and the PC. Check out the new co-op gameplay footage after the break.Read more...
Microsoft officially announces Game Room, a retro arcade space for Xbox LIVE and Games for Windows LIVE.
During the recent CES 2010 keynote address, Microsoft announced their new retro arcade space, Game Room. It will allow you to play 1000 retro games and customize your own arcade space while letting you compete against your friends. Each game will have achievements you can play for as well as universal leader boards so you gain bragging rights. You will be able to send out challenges to your friends and they can visit your arcade space to play demos of your games while they are there. The whole concept sounds a bit like Sony's PlayStation Home but a lot more fun.
Microsoft is taking an interesting approach to the pricing plan. Game Room will be free for download and games will cost you between 240 - 400 Microsoft points. They are also letting you play them really old school by plopping down 40 MS points for one play until you die. I'm really curious to see how this pricing plan works out and if other people will try the same approach.
Game Room will be released this spring for Xbox LIVE and Games for Windows LIVE. 30 out of the 1000 promised games have been announced so far including Centipede and Asteroids Deluxe. Check out the launch trailer after the break.Read more...
Microsoft has confirmed that Project Natal will be coming out this holiday season during their CES 2010 keynote address today.
We posted a rumor about Project Natal's possible release date a while back that said it could be coming out in November. Today, Microsoft confirmed during their CES 2010 keynote address that Project Natal will be coming out this holiday season. No word on the other rumors that we heard about the number of launch games or a price point. The original rumor said that it would be released with 14 games and that it would cost around $80. Hopefully we will hear more information soon and see if all the other rumors are true or not. They seem a lot more likely after the keynote address today.
