Rock Band 3 Announced

Rock Band 3 AnnouncedHarmonix announced today that they will be releasing Rock Band 3 this holiday season and promises new innovations.

Everybody knew that eventually Rock Band 3 would be announced and today Harmonix announced the newest addition to the franchise on their Facebook page. Harmonix promises to bring new innovations to the musical genre and we hope they are right. The music game genre has grown a little stagnant and just seems to be the same thing over and over with a couple of new features, a new list of songs, and more plastic instruments to clutter up our houses. The original Rock Band changed everything when it was released back in 2007 and let's hope the new one will try and do the same. Dhani Harrison, the son of George Harrison, announced during an interview with the Chicago Tribune via Kotaku that Rock Band 3 would teach you how to play music which sounds pretty interesting but I'm not sure if it sounds like much fun though.

No official release date has been given for Rock Band 3 other than a Holiday 2010 release window. The announcement doesn't mention which platforms we can expect to see it on either but I'm sure it will be released on everything.

Free Guitar Hero: Van Halen With GH5 Pre-Order

Guitar Hero Van Halen Free With Guitar Hero 5 Pre-OrderActivision has announced they will be releasing Guitar Hero: Van Halen for free with the pre-order of Guitar Hero 5.

Activision announced today that anybody that pre-orders Guitar Hero 5 before its September 1st release will receive a voucher for a free copy of Guitar Hero: Van Halen. Unfortunately this only applies to US buyers though. Not a bad deal if you were looking to pick up either game. The Guitar Hero: Van Halen game will basically be a really nice track pack then if you pick up Guitar Hero 5 and will give you a total of over 130 songs. It states on Activision's site that it will take up to 6 weeks to receive the free game but that will get you the game before it even comes out.

Guitar Hero 5 will be released for all the major consoles on September 1st. Guitar Hero: Van Halen is going to be released on December 22nd.

Guitar Hero: Van Halen Full Track List Announced

Van Halen Full Track List AnnouncedActivision has announced the full track list from the upcoming Guitar Hero: Van Halen game.

Activision has given MTV Multiplayer the exclusive track list for the upcoming Guitar Hero game centered around the legendary band, Van Halen.  The track list confirms what Rolling Stone announced earlier that only David Lee Roth Halen songs will be included in the game so Sammy Hager and Gary Cherone are nowhere to be seen. They also stated that founding bassist Michael Anthony will be replaced by Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang.

I kind of understand the two singers missing even though they were a part of Van Halen's history, but I really hope the absence of Michael Anthony is his decision. I don't really care for the inclusion of Eddie's kid because he didn't have anything to do with building the band's fame.

Just like the previous band exclusive Guitar Hero games, Guitar Hero: Van Halen will include tracks from other bands. Guitar Hero: Van Halen will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and the Wii on December 22nd. Check out the full track list after the break.Read more...

Lego Rock Band?

Lego Guitarvideogaming247 is reporting they have a source that says a Lego Rock Band game is currently in development at Traveller's Tales. This source has told them the rumor is "100 percent correct"

At the end of last year, Traveller's Tales was linked to a rumored Lego game based on the Harry Potter franchise.

Neither game has been officially announced at this point, but Traveller's Tales has confirmed they are working on another Lego based game. In 2008, they released Lego Batman and Lego Indiana Jones. Both games received fairly decent reviews from the community.
