MadWorld Reviews

MadWorldMadWorld was released yesterday for the Nintendo Wii and there is a flood of reviews available online. Metacritic.com has a nice compilation of some of the top sites' thoughts on the game. Generally the game has fared very well. It has pulled in an average of 86% so far from reviewers. The less reliable but still worth watching user reviews is getting an average of 9 out of 10. Here are some of the highlights below:

1UP (91/100) "The design constraints of Nintendo's system forced the developers at Platinum Games to be creative, and they followed through on their creativity by putting together a thoroughly enjoyable brawler with just the right amount of the ultra-violence."

Gametrailers (85/100) "One of the most eye-catching games to come along in a while, MadWorld is stylish, bloody, and a great fit for the Wii's controls. Though there's a surprising amount of incentive to replay it, it's barely seven hours long, so if you aren't persuaded by the novelty of extreme violence buy with caution."

GameInformer (90/100) "If you play this game the way you should – by slaughtering victims in the most foul of ways – it ends up being a non-stop highlight reel. The ranked boss battles are especially entertaining – think Mortal Kombat Fatalities with the budget of a Star Wars movie."

Killzone 2 Reviews

Killzone 2Guerilla Games has finally released the long awaited Killzone 2 for the PlayStation 3 today. It's been a long and bumpy road for Sony and Guerilla Games since that infamous unveling at the 2005 E3. When the game was first shown it was used to give everybody a taste of what Sony said the PlayStation 3 would offer when it was released. It turned out not to be a true in-game representation of the final game and many gamers doubted it would ever be able to reach that visual level. When the first true in-game footage was shown two years later at E3, Guerilla Games showed that they actually could deliver the game they promised. Now that the game has finally been released to the masses, it looks like it is Sony who gets the last laugh. The pre-orders numbers in Europe alone reached 1.1 million units. The first batch of reviews is out and looks like Sony has the mega hit they promised years ago.

Metacritic.com has the first batch of reviews up from around the Internet and Killzone 2 looks like it is living up to the hype. With an average score of 91%, few can deny that Killzone 2didn't reach that expectation they set back in '05. Check out some of the review highlights after the break.Read more...

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Reviews

FEAR2F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, the follow-up to Monolith's first person shooter, was released Tuesday for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. Metacritic.com has released their collection of what reviewers are saying around the net and they are pretty good. Check out some of the highlights below:

Average Xbox 360 score: (79/100)

Average PlayStation 3 score: (81/100)

Average PC score: (79/100)

VideoGamer.com (90/100) "I can't recommend Monolith's sequel highly enough. It might not have the jaw-dropping visuals to rival Killzone 2, but it's a hugely satisfying shooter that'll have you clinging onto that controller or mouse throughout its tension-filled campaign. If you like your combat meaty and with a solid dose of supernatural scares, there's every chance this will rank as one of your favourite games of 2009."

Game Informer (83/100) "While the multiplayer is weak and the mood won’t make people forget Dead Space any time soon, the solid action core makes it worth a play."

IGN (81/100) "It’s a good shooter, bordering on great at times, but it’s not as groundbreaking as its predecessor. Still, it’s definitely faithful to the idea of F.E.A.R., which is mainly trying to get under your skin using a combination of tried-and-true horror elements, not the least of which is a creepy little girl."
