LucasArts and Traveller's Tales announced the development of LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars today.
The original LEGO Star Wars was released way back in 2005 and was a huge hit that spawned a sequel and several other games based on other movie franchises. LucasArts announced today that Traveller's Tales is working on a new installment in the franchise that I'm sure will be a big hit as well. The same team that worked on the original Star Wars games and the Indiana Jones franchise will be working on the new game. The 3rd game (4th overall) in the series will based on the animated series, The Clone Wars, and will include characters from both seasons. We can expect to play some new battle modes and an upgraded level builder in the new game. We will have the option to play as a Jedi or a Separatist with a bunch of new abilities.
LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PC, and the PSP this Fall 2010.
Traveller's Tales has released a new trailer for the upcoming Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 that focuses on Harry's second year.
The new Lego Harry Potter trailer is based around Harry's second year at Hogwarts, the same timeframe that was depicted in the movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Just like previous Lego games, the new Harry Potter based game recreates the story and locations fans of the franchise will love to see. Of course Traveller's Tales also adds their own humor and flare to make it feel like their previous Lego games.
Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 will be released this May for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, and the PC. Check out the new trailer after the break.Read more...
Rockstar Games has released the iPhone version of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars along with a debut trailer.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has previously been released on the Nintendo DS and most recently on the Sony PSP. Both versions were released to great overall reviews but the number of units sold was not so great. Rockstar Games is trying it again with their release on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The original release still holds the top spot on Metacritic for the all time highest overall review score for the Nintendo DS. It is second on the all time list for the PSP. You can't argue with those numbers or with Rockstar's history so it should be one to pick up.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is available now for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It will cost you $9.99 in the App store right now. Check out the debut trailer after the jump.Read more...
Army of Two: The 40th Day hits store shelves tomorrow and EA has conveniently released a launch trailer today to help build excitement.
The Army of Two: The 40th Day launch trailer gives us all the usual explosions and fist bumping moments you would expect. The main focus of the trailer shows us how the game's story begins. While in Shanghai, Salem and Rios are caught in the middle of an attack that destroys the city. The two guns for hire then have to fight their way out of the city.
It's a pretty cool setting for a story, so hopefully they have overcome all of the issues from the original game. Some of the most fun moments I've had in the last year have been in co-op games and I like the trend that developers are adding this into their games. We will just have to wait and see if it lives up to what we hope it could be.
Army of Two: The 40th Day is going to be released tomorrow for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PSP. Check out the launch trailer after the jump.Read more...
EA Montreal's buddy co-op game, Army of Two: The 40th Day gets a new multiplayer trailer.
The new trailer highlights what the Army of Two sequel offers us on the multiplayer side. The multiplayer side as well as the main game will focus on co-operative play. It will feature four multiplayer modes: Co-op Deathmatch, Control, Warzone, and Extraction. Co-op Deathmatch is obvious, Warzone is an objective based mode, Control has you holding and defending points on the map, and Extraction has you fighting towards an extraction point for your team. It looks to be a pretty good variety of modes to choose from and should be pretty fun.
Army of Two: The 40th Day is going to be released next week on January 12th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PSP. Check out the multiplayer trailer after the jump.Read more...
A new Army of Two: The 40th Day trailer has been released along with a co-op demo that is available now on both consoles.
The new Army of Two: The 40th Day trailer highlights the game's co-op gameplay and announces the co-op demo that is available now. The sequel to EA's buddy shooter is getting ready to be released early next month and now we get a small taste with a demo that is available now on Xbox LIVE and PSN. The demo will give you a good chunk of the first level from the retail game. The demo will offer online gameplay and offline split screen so you can play with a buddy locally. As we can see from the trailer, the sequel offers the same fun co-op gameplay as the first one and they've added some cool new features.
Army of Two: The 40th Day is going to be released on January 12th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PSP. The demo is available now on Xbox LIVE and PSN. The PSP demo will arrive on January 7th. Check out the co-op demo trailer after the jump.Read more...
Traveller's Tales has released the debut trailer for Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and it will surprisingly follow Harry through his first 4 years at Hogwarts.
Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is being developed by the same team that brought us the great Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones games. We should expect nothing less then another great game that will allow us to run around as Harry Potter. The debut trailer gives us glimpses at Harry and his friends running around Hogwarts and all of the characters you would expect to see. It's really cool to see all the different areas from the first 4 books in LEGO form. I'm sure that Traveller's Tales will bring their usual humor to the Potter world as they have with the other LEGO games.
No release date has been given yet for Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 but it will be released for the Nintendo DS, Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PSP, and the PC. Watch the debut trailer after the break.Read more...
Army of Two: The 40th Day received a new trailer today from Electronic Arts highlighting some of the co-op moves in the upcoming sequel.
The new Army of Two: The 40th Day trailer starts off showing the loadout screen where you get to customize your weapons. We also get to see some split-screen action from the game that shows off the simultaneous sniper shots. We also get to see one the cool co-op moves you can utilize, the step jump and attack. This involves your teammate lifting you up to gain an advantage point and then taking out enemies on higher levels. I think this is what makes the game cool because it does try to add actual co-op scenarios in to the game and taking advantage of having two players. EA Montreal added a cool new move shown in the trailer that allows you to mock surrender to the enemies and then take them out. The original Army of Two had its issues but overall it is was a pretty fun game. I'm hoping for more of the same with some cool additions when this game is released early next year.
Army of Two: The 40th Day is set to be released on January 12, 2010 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Check out the new co-op trailer after the jump.Read more...

Sony has released the PSP Go today, the newest version of their PlayStation Portable handheld system.
The PSP Go is Sony's latest version of their handheld device and is their first system that only plays downloadable content. The new PSP Go has 16GB of internal memory to hold your downloaded games, movies, and other media. Sony is touting that their will be 16,000 items for download on launch day. This includes movies and TV programs, but also includes full UMD games. Sony will also be releasing their new PSP Minis programs that are much like Microsoft's XBLA games in that they are small bite size games. At launch 9 PSP Minis will be available including Tetris, Alien Havoc, Hero of Sparta, Brainpipe, Fieldrunners, Sudoku, and the Funky Punch. Most people are disappointed with the price of the Minis. Tetris alone is $9.99 which is twice the price to the comparable iPhone game.
The PSP Go is priced at $249, which I think is really overpriced considering comparable systems and the previous versions that are still available.
Leaked documents from a alleged meeting between Sony and Sega reveal that all PS2 games could be coming to the PlayStation 3.
Take this story with a huge grain of salt but there are supposed leaked documents of a meeting between Sony and Sega that reveal Sony wants to bring every PS2 game to the PlayStation 3. The alleged meeting took place on August 5th and sheds some light on Sony's possible future plans for all of their platforms. Originally posted on a French site and then thrown up on NeoGaf, the document lays out some really huge plans from Sony. The biggest news from the leaked document shows that Sony wants to bring the whole PS2 catalog to the PSN in the future. Was this the real reason why Sony cut backwards compatibility? It does make a lot of sense but it will also piss off a lot of people if it's true. The document also states that Sony's motion controller will be released in March 2010 in Japan and then Spring for the rest of us. Another huge announcement that a lot of people would be excited for is that Sony hopes to bring original Dreamcast games to the PSN as well as Japanese imports.
As I said before, take this story with a huge grain of salt because any one of these announcements would be huge news, let alone all of them coming true. We will have to see how this plays out but let's hope that at least some of these come true. Check out the full leaked document after the break.Read more...

Ubisoft has released the official debut trailer for the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines PSP exclusive.
Most of the hype surrounding the Assassin's Creed franchise is centered on the upcoming sequel but Bloodlines is looking very interesting. It takes place after the events from the original Assassin's Creed on the island of Cyprus. It features the same main character Altair and it looks to bridge the gap between the first and second game. The trailer looks really good and makes you wonder how the visuals are possible on the PSP. The same combat and free roaming gameplay will be included as well.
Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines will be released exclusively for the PSP on November 10th. Check out the debut trailer after the jump.Read more...
A PSP version of Saints Row may have been confirmed today, not by Sony or THQ, but a Swedish heavy metal band called Opeth.
Opeth posted to their website today that they are being included on the soundtrack to an as of now unannounced PSP version of Saints Row that has a possible release date in March 2010.
VG247 found this on the band's site earlier today "We may not like playing video games all that much but we do like it when our music is featured on them! Makes us a bit proud even when it's a game as big as Saints Row for the PSP and even prouder when the nice developer people show excellent taste by picking "The Lotus Eater" for it. So if you love playing video games: the game is expected to hit the streets around March 2010."
No official word from THQ or Sony, but you gotta believe they can't be too happy about this leak if it is true.
