The new DJ Hero game looks to ride the popularity of Rock Band and the Guitar Hero franchise and bring the same success into the DJ world. The full set list includes 93 tracks of incredible mash ups of popular hits from each genre and across several generations. Some of the mash ups that jump out at me are Beastie Boys with Blondie, Daft Punk with Queen, and Eminem with Beck. It looks like Activision has done a great job at getting some big name bands.

Leaked documents from a alleged meeting between Sony and Sega reveal that all PS2 games could be coming to the PlayStation 3.
Take this story with a huge grain of salt but there are supposed leaked documents of a meeting between Sony and Sega that reveal Sony wants to bring every PS2 game to the PlayStation 3. The alleged meeting took place on August 5th and sheds some light on Sony's possible future plans for all of their platforms. Originally posted on a French site and then thrown up on NeoGaf, the document lays out some really huge plans from Sony. The biggest news from the leaked document shows that Sony wants to bring the whole PS2 catalog to the PSN in the future. Was this the real reason why Sony cut backwards compatibility? It does make a lot of sense but it will also piss off a lot of people if it's true. The document also states that Sony's motion controller will be released in March 2010 in Japan and then Spring for the rest of us. Another huge announcement that a lot of people would be excited for is that Sony hopes to bring original Dreamcast games to the PSN as well as Japanese imports.
As I said before, take this story with a huge grain of salt because any one of these announcements would be huge news, let alone all of them coming true. We will have to see how this plays out but let's hope that at least some of these come true. Check out the full leaked document after the break.Read more...

Activision announced today that anybody that pre-orders Guitar Hero 5 before its September 1st release will receive a voucher for a free copy of Guitar Hero: Van Halen. Unfortunately this only applies to US buyers though. Not a bad deal if you were looking to pick up either game. The Guitar Hero: Van Halen game will basically be a really nice track pack then if you pick up Guitar Hero 5 and will give you a total of over 130 songs. It states on Activision's site that it will take up to 6 weeks to receive the free game but that will get you the game before it even comes out.

Activision has announced the full track list from the upcoming Guitar Hero: Van Halen game.
Activision has given MTV Multiplayer the exclusive track list for the upcoming Guitar Hero game centered around the legendary band, Van Halen. The track list confirms what Rolling Stone announced earlier that only David Lee Roth Halen songs will be included in the game so Sammy Hager and Gary Cherone are nowhere to be seen. They also stated that founding bassist Michael Anthony will be replaced by Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang.
I kind of understand the two singers missing even though they were a part of Van Halen's history, but I really hope the absence of Michael Anthony is his decision. I don't really care for the inclusion of Eddie's kid because he didn't have anything to do with building the band's fame.
Just like the previous band exclusive Guitar Hero games, Guitar Hero: Van Halen will include tracks from other bands. Guitar Hero: Van Halen will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and the Wii on December 22nd. Check out the full track list after the break.Read more...

Sony has patented a technology that possibly gives them the ability to emulate PlayStation 2 games on every PlayStation 3.
One of the biggest gripes gamers have with the PlayStation 3, besides the high entry price, is the lack of backwards compatibility. They originally included an actual PlayStation 2 Emotion Engine chip in each console but removed it to help with the cost. Sony then added software emulation to make up for it but it didn't work with every game. If Sony is able to finally add the whole PS2 library to the PS3's arsenal, that might give people a little more incentive to take the price leap.
No official word from Sony but the patent was filed back in December 2008. Rumors are swirling that they could announce the emulation along with the rumored PS3 Slim or if Sony decides to offer full PS2 downloads from the PlayStation Store.
