GameTrailers has released Halo: Reach gameplay footage that was pulled from the recently released ViDoc.
Bungie and Microsoft recently released a ViDoc for the upcoming Halo: Reach with a bunch of gameplay footage mixed in with developer interviews. For those out that can't take the time to look through the awesome video, GameTrailers has graciously condensed the gameplay footage down into a nice little compact trailer for you to drool over.
No official release date has been given for Halo: Reach yet but we do know that it will be this Fall and you can gain access to the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta on May 3rd if you purchased Halo 3: ODST. Check out the gameplay extract trailer after the jump.Read more...
Bungie has released a ton of new gameplay footage from Halo: Reach in a ViDoc that was shown at the recent Microsoft X10 event.
We finally get a good helping of Halo: Reach gameplay footage and it is looking really good. The new Halo: Reach ViDoc is really cool in that we get to hear Bungie talk about everything that they want to put into the game and everything they had to do to reach that goal. Bungie shows off every aspect of the game including building the new models, creating the new environments, the musicians working on the game's score, and the biggest part of the video, Halo: Reach's story. It is really cool to hear how many improvements they have made to the game engine and how that will manifest itself on the screen.
The major focus that Bungie wants to highlight is the game's storyline and how they can best convey that to the player. This touches every aspect the game from the character's facial expressions to how they change the look and feel of the Covenant. Any fan of the video game development process should watch this video because it's very interesting to see how the game's they love are created.
No official release date for Halo: Reach had been announced other than this Fall, but we do know it will obviously be exclusive to the Xbox 360. Microsoft announced that the multiplayer beta that was released with Halo 3: ODST will be available on May 3rd.Read more...
The debut teaser trailer for Fallout: New Vegas was released by Obsidian Entertainment today.
Not much is known about Fallout: New Vegas at this point. The teaser trailer doesn't give us much information either. It just shows a robot digging at some dirt in a graveyard that overlooks Vegas while a mysterious man watches from above. Bethesda, the makers of Fallout 3, said that it is another story in the Fallout Universe and is not a sequel to their game. The reins were handed off to Obsidian Entertainment, best known for making Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Alpha Protocol an upcoming action RPG, who I'm sure were more than willing to jump at the chance.
Fallout: New Vegas was announced last year and is shooting for a Fall 2010 release. It will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. Check out the teaser trailer after the break.Read more...
Our long awaited return to Rapture is almost here and I couldn't be more excited. At least that is what I thought before I saw the awesome BioShock 2 launch trailer 2K Games debuted on Jimmy Fallon's late night show last night.
The new BioShock 2 trailer is too cool. We get to see the Big Daddy whooping ass on some Splicers that are bugging your Little Sister. We also get a good luck at the new Brute Splicer that is able to pick up objects, like huge chunks of concrete, and toss them at us ala the Tank from Left 4 Dead. They look to be one of the bigger challenges in the new game. Another big challenge in BioShock 2 is the new Big Sister that makes an impressive entrance in the new trailer. If you weren't excited about the sequel before now, try to hide it after you watch this.
BioShock 2 is going to be released next week on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC on February 9th. Check out the launch trailer after the jump.Read more...
Battlefield: Bad Company 2's single player game gets an exclusive reveal trailer on the recent GTTV episode.
Most trailers that have been released for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 so far have focused on the multiplayer gameplay. Now we get a new trailer centered on the single player campaign which I was a big fan of from the original. It will feature the same four main characters and will feature maps based in the snow, sand, and jungle. The buildings are completely destructible this time around so expect that to add a lot of cool moments to multiplayer matches. How cool will that be to drop an entire building with an enemy sniper up on the roof?
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is going to be released on March 2nd for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. Check out the NSFW single player campaign after the break.Read more...
A leaked video that is rumored to be someone playing Half-Life 2 with Microsoft's Project Natal has hit the Internet and it looks pretty cool.
We are taking this leaked video as complete rumor at this point until we hear differently but I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited about it. I'm sure most people were kind of excited when they first saw the Project Natal footage at this year's E3, but like us, they wanted to see how it would work with "real" games. Now with this possible leaked footage of someone playing Half-Life 2 we might have just gotten a taste of the possible gameplay options this might open up.
The leaked Half-Life 2 video is pretty blurry but you can clearly tell the guy is controlling the on-screen action with his arm movements. It does look a little like he is trying to conduct an orchestra but it seems to be moving pretty smoothly. It looks like it might be a little tough to control but we will just have to wait and see. I doubt this footage will ever be confirmed as real so hopefully Microsoft will release some new official footage soon. Check out the leaked HL2 footage after the break.Read more...
Valve has announced the first DLC pack for Left 4 Dead 2 and it will be hitting Steam and Xbox LIVE early next spring.
Left 4 Dead 2 has silenced many critics when it was released in the middle of November. Many people raised some concern when Valve announced a quick (quicker than their usual schedule anyway) follow-up to their best selling zombie game L4D1, but there hasn't been much criticism once people actually got their hands on it.
Now Valve has announced the first DLC pack for L4D2 and it is called "The Passing". It will take place after the Dead Center campaign and will involve the L4D2 cast meeting up with the L4D1 characters. In addition to the new co-op campaign, the DLC will include new arenas for the Survival, Scavenge, and Versus modes. We will also get our hands on a new melee weapon and a new firearm. A new "uncommon common" zombie class will also be added to the game.
"The Passing" will hopefully be available in early spring for Xbox 360 and the PC. Left 4 Dead 2 is available now for both platforms.
EA Los Angeles has released a first look trailer at the newly announced Medal of Honor game that is the next installment in the long running franchise.
The new Medal of Honor game was announced earlier this month by EA and is being touted as a modern day reboot of the series. A first look trailer was shown at the recent Video Game Awards and gave us a quick look at the new game. My first thought when I saw the new trailer was that it looked a lot like Modern Warfare 2. I definitely didn't think this was a bad thing considering how well Modern Warfare 2 is selling. For anybody that doesn't remember, the Medal of Honor franchise was the game to beat until Infinity Ward came along and took over the top spot. Now the Medal of Honor series has a chance to pay back the favor when it is released next year. From the looks of the new looking trailer, they certainly look like they are bringing their A game and competition is always a good thing. The trailer looks awesome and I'm excited to see more footage from this game in the next couple of months.
The new Medal of Honor game will be released in Fall 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. Check out the first look trailer after the jump.Read more...
The debut gameplay trailer for Halo: Reach was unveiled during the recent VGAs and it gave us some insight in what we can expect from the upcoming game.
Halo: Reach was another huge get for Spike when they got to unveil the debut gameplay trailer at their recent Video Game Awards. The trailer was the first chance we got to see some in-game footage from Halo: Reach it looks smokin' hot. Bungie has confirmed that it is in fact all in-game footage contrary to people's disbelief. The trailer shows us different flavors kinds of Spartans we expect to see in the prequel. There is a comment made during the trailer that might give us some insight into the path that this Halo prequel will be going. One of the Spartans makes comment about "leaving that lone wolf stuff behind". Many people believe that this means we can expect the game to be heavily focused on team-based gameplay rather than the usual single player campaign. We will just have to wait until they decide to release more info.
No release date has been announced yet for Halo: Reach but we have been given a Fall 2010 window for Xbox 360. Check out the debut gameplay trailer after the break.Read more...
EA officially announced today that they are in fact developing Dead Space 2, the sequel to their surprise hit that was in contention for many people's Game of the Year awards last year.
There were a lot of people that enjoyed playing the original Dead Space, me included. I was glad when I started hearing the rumors that Visceral Games was working on a sequel. Well, today EA officially announced it amid rumors that all but guaranteed it. EA's Senior VP and Group General Manager Nick Earl said that Visceral Games is working on the project and that "Dead Space 2 is on target to deliver a jaw-dropping experience gamers won't soon forget." If it is anything like the original, I'm sure it will be just as great. Isaac Clarke is back again and the infection has continued to spread across the space. EA also promises that it will offer a "huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you". Not much info other than these few teasers has been given so far. Check back for more information when we hear it.
No release date or window was given for Dead Space 2, but we do know it is being developed for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC.
Splash Damage, the team behind Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, have released three gameplay videos from their upcoming FPS Brink.
Brink still has a long way to go before its Fall 2010 release but I like what I have seen from the game so far. Brink's big draw that will help it stand out from all of the other first-person shooters, is it's SMART technology. It stands for Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain and it will allow you to run, dive, and climb smoothly through levels like Faith in Mirror's Edge. You will be able to use SMART by holding down a button and then depending upon where you are looking, the system will decide how to react to a certain obstacle. The system looks like it might work pretty well but I am holding my judgment until I can try it out.
In the new gameplay videos a portion of Brink's Container City is shown off. We get to see the main character sliding and climbing around using the SMART technology. We also get to see another cool thing Brink offers, the character customization. You are able to change your character class at different command posts along the way. With each character class you are also able to change to a different objective on the fly and a waypoint indicator will point the way.
Brink is look pretty cool and I can't wait to see more from the game. It will be released in Fall 2010 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC. Check out the three gameplay videos after the break.Read more...
EA has announced a new game in the long running Medal of Honor franchise and this time it will be a modern day reboot.
Well it looks like EA is dusting off the Medal of Honor franchise and giving it the popular "reboot" treatment that most other games are getting lately. Medal of Honor was the top of the heap before the Call of Duty franchise surpassed them and never looked back. Now EA is hoping to bring it back to its former glory.
The new Medal of Honor game will leave its WWII roots and bring us to into modern day Afghanistan. You will take the role of a Tier 1 Operator in this new game. According to EA a Tier 1 Operator is "a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle". The EA Los Angeles team will be working on the single player side of the game and DICE will be handling the multiplayer side. Both teams are hoping to create the "most authentic modern war experience".
The new Medal of Honor game will be released Fall 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. A world premiere video will be shown at Spike's Video Game Awards. Check out a short teaser trailer after the break.Read more...
Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has broken the 5 day sales record across all types of entertainment.
Modern Warfare 2 came out the gates hard when it broke the single day record with an astonishing 4.7 million units sold in the US and UK alone. Now Activision has announced it has officially become the biggest entertainment launch ever, pulling in an estimated $550 million in the first 5 days. This pulls it ahead of the former winner, GTA 4 with an estimated $500 million in its first week. This also puts it ahead of the biggest worldwide movie release which was Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince which earned $394 million in sales. Modern Warfare 2 also shattered the single biggest book release, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which stacked up $220 million in its first week of sales. Even with all of the controversy surrounding this game it looks like a new bar has been set for all forms of entertainment. This really shines a light on how big video games have gotten.
The LA Times is reporting that Modern Warfare 2 cost between $40 and $50 million dollars to develop. Combine that with the marketing and distribution costs, it puts the total amount at about $200 million dollars. I guess that turned out to be a pretty good investment.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC.
Activision has revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold 4.7 million copies in the US and UK in one day shattering all previous records.
Everybody knew the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was going to be huge, but I don't think anybody expected the numbers it was able to pull in. Activision released a press release that states the game sold 4.7 million copies in the US and UK alone in one day. This shatters the previous record holder GTA 4. Analyst Ben Schachter is predicting that when all is said and done, Modern Warfare 2 will have pulled in over 7 million copies worldwide on the first day. These are incredible numbers and no one has ever come close to reaching this level in any entertainment medium.
Modern Warfare 2's record breaking release also helped Microsoft reach a milestone. Major Nelson announced on his Twitter feed that Xbox LIVE had broken a record on most simultaneous users. He tweeted that they had 2 million users were logged into Xbox LIVE at one time. I don't think anybody doubts that the MW2's release had everything to do with this.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is finally here and a new multiplayer gameplay video has been released.
The new Modern Warfare 2 video shows off some multiplayer gameplay and demonstrates the new killstreak reward in action. Up to 15 rewards are available to you when you string together multiple kills during a match. Depending on how many you string together, the better the reward. In the video you can see the player racking up the streaks and get a little pop-up message telling you the new reward you just earned. We also get to see a Predator missile strike reward. When you use this reward you get a little laptop that pops-up and shows you an overheard view of the battlefield. You then have 5 seconds to guide the missile to the target you want it to hit. At the end of the video we also get to see how the Airstrike reward looks when the player uses it on an airport terminal.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC. Check out the killstreak gameplay video after the break.Read more...
