Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 Officially Named

Arkham Asylum 2 Officially NamedRocksteady Studios has officially revealed the name for Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 in the latest issue of Game Informer.

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 has got to be one of the most highly anticipated sequels in development and now we get the official name and some details. In the latest issue of Game Informer magazine, it is revealed the sequel's official name is Batman: Arkham City. It will obviously take place in Arkham City that is a walled-in area around Arkham Asylum to keep the baddies contain. We now know the game will officially feature Catwoman as featured on the new GI cover. We also know, thanks to the voice actors spilling it, it will feature Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, Talia al Ghul, Riddler, and of course Joker. Lastly we know that the overly abused detective mode will return but it will be revamped so it is more like augmented reality and will hopefully keep people from leaving it on the whole time. We unfortunately have a long wait until its release, but if it is anything like the first game, it will absolutely be worth the wait.

No release date for Batman: Arkham City has been given yet other than Autumn 2011 but we do know it is going to be released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC.

Nintendo 3DS Release Date And Price Reveal Date Announced

Nintendo 3DS Release Date And Price Reveal Date AnnouncedNintendo has announced that it will be revealing the Nintendo 3DS' price and release date at the end of September.

Nintendo blew everybody away when it unveiled the 3DS at E3 this year. They also announced they would be bringing a metric ton of blockbuster franchises to the forthcoming handheld including Kid Icarus Uprising, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario Kart 3DS, and Star Fox 64 3D. The only thing missing from the huge unveil was a release date and a price.

Nintendo is looking to right that last little bit soon. Bloomberg Japan via GameIndustry.biz is reporting that Nintendo is going to reveal the 3DS release date and price on September 29th. Nintendo's President Reggie Fils-Aime, originally stated on Jimmy Fallon that it will be released next year. That reveal was then announced to be a mistake so now we really have no idea of when it will hit store shelves. At least now people have a solid date when they will actually find out how long before they get their hands on the 3DS.

Netflix Losing Required PlayStation 3 Disc

Netflix Losing Required PlayStation 3 DiscNetflix might soon be dropping the required disc that allows you to stream movies onto the PlayStation 3.

PlayStation 3 owners were delighted when Netflix announced they would be offering its subscribers the option of streaming movies onto their console, after they had to look on while Xbox 360 owners were enjoying the service for a long time. The excitement was a little dampened when it was announced it would require a disc instead of the cool dashboard integration that the Xbox 360 had. No timeline was set when this requirement would end but maybe people believed it would be through 2010.

That time may finally be coming to end for PS3 owners. It was announced during an earnings call today that before their next call in October, the PlayStation 3 would receive a major update that would include Netflix integration. This is great news for the service and for anybody that is a fan of the push towards streaming media. They also announced they would be adding a ton more streaming TV options as well.

Kinect Officially Priced And New SKU Announced

Kinect Officially Priced And New SKU AnnouncedMicrosoft has finally officially announced the final price of Kinect and it's no surprise to anyone.

Kinect was officially named back at E3 this year but a final price was nowhere to be seen. Many outlets and sites including Microsoft's own site set the price at $150 but Microsoft denied that the price was official. Today they finally stopped dragging their feet and confirmed that Kinect will in fact cost you $149.99. It will include Kinect Adventures along with the motion control camera. Microsoft believes that this was the best approach for their new peripheral. I agree that Kinect should include a launch game. It worked for the Wii, so we will have to wait and see if this was a smart move or not.

Along with the price announcement, Microsoft has revealed a new SKU that will include 4GB of internal memory, built in Wi-Fi, and a black matte finish. It will look like the recently announced Xbox 360 Slim but will lose the sexy black gloss. It will be available August 3rd for $199.99 and will also come in a bundle with Kinect and Kinect Adventures this holiday for $299.99. The stand-alone Microsoft Kinect is going to be released on November 4th.

Hulu Officially Coming To PlayStation 3 And Xbox 360

Hulu Officially Coming To PlayStation 3 And Xbox 360Hulu has officially announced their plans for a premium service and it will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Hulu has long been rumored to make its way to the consoles and users have been anxiously waiting for that expected announcement. It finally happened today when Hulu officially announced their plans to create a new premium service called Hulu Plus. It will allow users access to full seasons of hit shows like Modern Family and 30 Rock. It will also give you access to watch complete series of older shows like The X-Files and Arrested Development. The downside is that it will cost $9.99 a month but depending on what you are paying for television now this may be the first real alternative.

The best part of the announcement for gamers was that this new premium service is coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It should be making its way to PlayStation 3 starting in July but Xbox 360 owners will have to wait until early 2011. On the plus side, the Xbox 360 version will be a custom experience that will take advantage of Xbox LIVE's social community and the recently unveiled Kinect. You will have to have an Xbox LIVE Gold account to access the service though. No word on whether you will need to have a PSN Plus account to access it on the PlayStation 3.

Did Microsoft Quietly Price Kinect?

Microsoft Kinect PricedMicrosoft's big announcement for E3 was to fully unveil Project Natal by its new name Kinect and now they may have quietly priced the add-on.

E3 is over for another year and Microsoft's big announcement was officially naming Project Natal to Kinect. What we didn't hear is what the add-on was going to cost us. Many sites like Amazon have priced the motion sensor for pre-order at $149.99 but no official price has been announced. Now we can add one more outlet to the rumor mill, Microsoft.com. That's right, Microsoft's own store has the add-on costing $149.99. Despite the item being up for quite awhile, Microsoft has yet to confirm the price but if it wasn't, wouldn't they take it down at this point? I gotta say they might be pricing themselves out of the motion sensor war at that price point. On top of that they will be pricing their games at $59.99 a piece which seems a little steep. We will just have to see how this all plays out when Sony and Microsoft go head to head again this holiday season.

Kinect Announced With Launch TitlesMicrosoft has officially announced Project Natal's real name in an event at USC that featured Cirque du Soleil.

Project Natal was first announced back at last year's E3 2009 and now Microsoft has announced the official name with the line-up of launch titles we can expect to see. Project Natal is now officially called Kinect and is set to be released later this year but we still do not have a price point for the motion controller add-on. The announcement was originally leaked by USA Today but was pulled down before the official announcement at an event at USC tonight.

The launch titles announced are exactly what people expected to see in an add-on obviously geared towards the casual gamer. Kinect and Sony's Move are both aimed towards taking some of the Nintendo Wii's market share. The first of the launch titles announced is called Kinectimals that will involve training virtual cats. The second is a racing game called Joyride. Kinect Adventures is the next game and will include a rafting game that players control with their body. Kinect Sports is a direct competitor to Wii Sports and will include beach volleyball, soccer, table tennis, bowling, boxing, and track and field. Dance Central is another one that will obviously involve dancing. Lastly, Microsoft announced a partnership with LucasArts and Disney that will produce separate new games that will use Kinect. One title that was shown off was a Star Wars based game that featured light saber duels against Darth Vader.

No release date or price has been announced for Microsoft's Kinect but I'm sure we can expect to hear more in the next few days of E3 2010.
