It looks like the rumors floating around last month were true. Nintendo has officially announced a price drop for the Wii.
It seems like more and more the rumor mill ends up being true anymore. Well you can add another one into the true column now that Nintendo has officially announced a Wii price drop. The little console that could is dropping down to $149.99 which is exactly what was rumored. It will now be part of a bundle that comes in black or white and will be included with Mario Kart and a matching colored Wii Wheel. This replaces the usual Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort. Speaking with MSNBC, Nintendo believes the price is an “important move” and I’m sure it will help clear out the inventory to make way for the new console announced for 2012.
In addition to the price drop, Nintendo also announced a new line of discounted games called Nintendo Selects. Much like the PS3′s Greatest Hits, Nintendo Selects will come at a discounted price and includes some huge hits for the console. The first games announced are The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports as a standalone game, Animal Crossing: City Folk, and Mario Super Sluggers.
The newly discounted Nintendo Wii will be available on May 15th along with the new line of Nintendo Selects.
I can’t believe I’ve been going for years without knoiwng that.
