Resident Evil 6 Officially Announced with Debut Trailer and Release Date

Resident Evil 6 Officially Announced with Debut Trailer and Release DateCapcom officially announces Resident Evil 6 with a debut trailer and even gives us a release date.

An announcement that surprised no one, but delighted most, shows that the Resident Evil franchise should have another huge hit on its hands. Resident Evil 6 made a huge splash with a really long debut trailer that gives tons of hints on the game’s story and characters.

The new Resident Evil 6 will feature Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy for the first time ever and both will be playable. There are two additional playable characters that include Helena Harper, a government agent, and another unnamed character. One of the best parts of Resident Evil 5, co-op play, has been confirmed to be included in the new game.

The new game takes place 10 years after the events of the last game. From the trailer we can see some new locales and additions to the franchise. One locale is China that is alive with pedestrians that you must push your way through as they run away in terror. Also from this shot we see that the new game might be more action focused than previous installments with Chris sliding and taking cover a la Gears of War. There are also some quick shots of melee combat and even some possible platforming and vehicle combat. Check out the debut trailer below and let us know what you think about the new direction the franchise might be taking.

Resident Evil 6 is going to be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 20th. A PC version will be released at a later date.
