Double Fine has announced they will be bringing their cult classic Psychonauts to Mac OS X as well as updating the PC version with new functionality.
Few games have the cult following as Double Fine’s Psychonauts. Originally released for way back in April 2005 for the original Xbox and then quickly followed up on the PC and PlayStation 2 a little later. The classic platformer was best known for its interesting storyline, awesome level design, and Double Fine’s signature humor. Even though it’s over 6 years old, Mac owners are going to find that it is well worth the wait.
In addition to the Mac announcement, Double Fine is also updating the PC version of Psychonauts to include Steam achievements, the ability to save to Steam Cloud, and they have dropped the difficulty on the final level. A companion iOS app has also been announced for the iPhone and iPad. It grants you access to all of the memory vaults from the original game along with commentary from Tim Schafer and Scott Campbell.
Psychonauts is available now for Mac on Steam and the Mac App Store as well as the PC updates and iOS app.
