It looks like all the rumors were true; Sony officially announced a price drop for the PlayStation 2. The change will be effective tomorrow, April 1st.
Contrary to everybody’s hope of a PlayStation 3 price cut, Sony went with giving the older system a spark to finish off its ten year lifecycle. Rumors are still swirling around that Sony is going to finally cut the price of the more expensive console and their next big opportunity would at this year’s E3. Let’s hope that Sony finally cuts the price and that they haven’t already lost too much of a lead to the Xbox 360.
