The day has finally, the Nintendo 3DS has been released in North America.
Nintendo threw a midnight launch party in New York City last night. Reggie Fils-Aime was on hand to sell the first unit to a hardcore fan that had camped out for several days. The lines were shorter than expected, but the weather may have more to do with it. Sales are expected to be high in spite of a slower than expected start. This may also be due to the less than stellar launch line-up. Anything on the list would be a stretch to be called a must have. Not to say it doesn’t include some decent games, but none that I would call a true system seller for hardcore Nintendo fans. I’m sure that Nintendogs + Cats will be a big hit with the younger fans though and Pilotwings Resort looks like it might a good holdover until some of the true Nintendo staples make their first appearance on the platform.
The Nintendo 3DS is available now in North America with a suggested retail price of $249.99. Check out the full launch list below.
