Netflix Coming To PlayStation 3

Netflix Coming To PlayStation 3Netflix announced today that they will bringing their instant watch services to the PlayStation 3, ending Microsoft’s console exclusivity.

Netflix on the PlayStation 3 has been rumored since the AP ran a story about Netflix’s stock soaring after they announced they would be bringing their service to a new site. Today, Netflix announced that the rumors were in fact true and they will be bringing their instant streaming service to the PlayStation 3. It will work a little bit different than how you access the service on the Xbox 360. You will need to order a special Netflix Blu-ray disc that will connect you to the service. You will of course have to be a Netflix subscriber to gain access to the streaming service but you will also be able to take advantage of their mailing service as well. The biggest difference in the PlayStation 3 version is that it is free to use over the PSN as opposed to the Xbox 360 version, where you need to be a Gold member to take advantage.

Netflix is already advertising the service on their site for as little as $8.99 a month. This will get you access to unlimited streaming movies and TV shows to your PS3. There hasn’t been an exact release date announced yet but it could be coming as soon as next month.
