Microsoft confirms the Xbox 360 Elite will be receiving a price drop this Friday just in time to beat the new PlayStation 3′s release.
We did a story last week about a rumored Xbox 360 Elite price drop and once again the rumor mill was right on. Microsoft confirmed today they are dropping the price of the Elite down to $299 to match the new PS3 Slim. They also confirmed that the Xbox 360 Pro will receive a price drop down to $249 until they are sold out. The Xbox 360 Arcade will remain at the $199 price point. Major Nelson made the official announcement on his site today.
With the announcement, this will finally pit the PS3 Slim and the Elite in true head to head battle. It will be interesting to see how the console war plays out during this upcoming holiday season.
