Killzone 2 Reviews

Killzone 2Guerilla Games has finally released the long awaited Killzone 2 for the PlayStation 3 today. It’s been a long and bumpy road for Sony and Guerilla Games since that infamous unveling at the 2005 E3. When the game was first shown it was used to give everybody a taste of what Sony said the PlayStation 3 would offer when it was released. It turned out not to be a true in-game representation of the final game and many gamers doubted it would ever be able to reach that visual level. When the first true in-game footage was shown two years later at E3, Guerilla Games showed that they actually could deliver the game they promised. Now that the game has finally been released to the masses, it looks like it is Sony who gets the last laugh. The pre-orders numbers in Europe alone reached 1.1 million units. The first batch of reviews is out and looks like Sony has the mega hit they promised years ago.

Metacritic.com has the first batch of reviews up from around the Internet and Killzone 2 looks like it is living up to the hype. With an average score of 91%, few can deny that Killzone 2didn’t reach that expectation they set back in ’05. Check out some of the review highlights after the break.

Gamepro.com (100/100) “It took a long time for Killzone 2 to finally come out, but after diving head first into the game, there’s no doubt in my mind that it lives up to the hype and is a must-play for FPS fans. [Mar 2009, p.70]”

1up.com (100/100) “With its unparalleled graphics, incredibly well-paced single-player campaign and in-depth multiplayer offerings, Killzone 2 has established its place among top-tier console shooters. Expectations on Killzone 2 had reached ridiculous proportions; here’s one of those cases where the game actually lived up to them.”

Worthplaying.com (95/100) “It’s clear that Sony and Guerrilla Games wanted to strike back at the naysayers, and they’ve done it in the best possible way by delivering a game that exceeds all expectations.”
