New Prince of Persia Game Announed

Ubisoft has announced that they are developing a new game in the Prince of Persia franchise that will release alongside the movie next year.
It shouldn't surprise anyone that Ubisoft would be releasing something alongside the film next year and today they officially announced it. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will be hitting store shelves in May 2010. It will abandon the storyline from last year's Prince of Persia game and return to the Sands of Time story. Fans of the reboot will be disappointed at the direction but the change isn't surprising considering the movie is based off the earlier games. Ubisoft also announced that they will be showing off a world premiere video from the game at this year's Spike TV Video Game Awards on December 12th.
I'm sure we can expect the new Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands to be released on all platforms when it comes out next year.
Mercenaries Inc Officially Announced By EA After Leak

EA has officially announced Mercenaries Inc. after a leaked video of the game was released by a former Pandemic Studios employee.
Mercenaries Inc. will be the third installment in the Mercenaries franchise and will be more multiplayer focused than the previous games. The game's existence was originally leaked on Bitmob by a former Pandemic Studios employee after the studio was closed down earlier this month. EA has now officially announced the game and it is currently under development at the EA Los Angeles studio. Several former Pandemic Studios developers that weren't part of the big layoff are currently working on the new game. Little details other than that the game is officially under development have been announced. It is rumored to feature 4 player co-op gameplay though. In the press release Nick Earl, who is the Senior VP and Group General Manager at EA, stated this about the new Mercenaries game: "From the studio at EALA, a core creative team is forging new ground and conceptualizing new ideas for this exciting franchise."

Just Cause 2 Release Date Announced

Avalanche Studios has announced a final release date for Just Cause 2 and it looks we will only have to wait until March of next year.
Just Cause 2 has finally received a release date from Avalanche Studios. It will be released on March 23rd 2010 in North America. Just Cause 2 might be one of those of those games that will unfortunately get overlooked with all of the other games hitting early next year, but I think it is definitely going to worth a look. The first game offered a big world for you to explore but it suffered from repetitive gameplay and was kind of buggy. I enjoyed it despite its issues and the sequel looks to fix those issues and include enough additions to attract more fans. The upgraded grappling hook and all that it will offer in the number of gameplay options will be almost worth the price of admission alone. Everything we have seen so far from this game looks like it will definitely one to watch next year.

Kane And Lynch 2 Officially Announced

Square Enix has officially announced Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, the follow up to Eidos' controversial buddy game.
Kane & Lynch wasn't a bad game at all but it definitely had its issues. The sequel will hopefully correct the issues and give us more of the fun co-op play the original offered. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days will put you in the role of the psychopath Lynch this time around. It will take place in Shanghai, where Lynch has found peace. The sequel will offer online co-op play as well as local, like the original. Competitive online will make a return as well. Kotaku reports there are very little details about the gameplay, but they do know that when a player is shot, they will be able to shoot from the prone position or crawl away.
The game was originally teased with a viral video that supposedly showed Lynch running through a Chinese restaurant naked as an attack dog chased him. We then see what looks to be Kane, beating the dog with a lunch tray to rescue Lynch. Square Enix has now released a new video that shows Lynch bashing in a door with a bowling ball and then returning a minute later with blood all over that same ball. It definitely looks like they haven't toned down the violence at all so fans of the original should be happy.

Modern Warfare 2 Breaks 5 Day Sales Record

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has broken the 5 day sales record across all types of entertainment.
Modern Warfare 2 came out the gates hard when it broke the single day record with an astonishing 4.7 million units sold in the US and UK alone. Now Activision has announced it has officially become the biggest entertainment launch ever, pulling in an estimated $550 million in the first 5 days. This pulls it ahead of the former winner, GTA 4 with an estimated $500 million in its first week. This also puts it ahead of the biggest worldwide movie release which was Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince which earned $394 million in sales. Modern Warfare 2 also shattered the single biggest book release, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which stacked up $220 million in its first week of sales. Even with all of the controversy surrounding this game it looks like a new bar has been set for all forms of entertainment. This really shines a light on how big video games have gotten.
The LA Times is reporting that Modern Warfare 2 cost between $40 and $50 million dollars to develop. Combine that with the marketing and distribution costs, it puts the total amount at about $200 million dollars. I guess that turned out to be a pretty good investment.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC.
Assassin's Creed 2 Launch Trailer Released

Assassin's Creed 2 is finally available for us to get our hands on it and Ubisoft has released a launch trailer for the few of you out there that still need some need a little big of encouragement.
Assassin's Creed 2 is a sure bet of being on many Game of the Year lists when all is said and done. The sequel brings numerous additions to the original's best selling gameplay. The combat system is vastly improved with multiple attacks and several new weapons have been added. They have also added the option of visiting blacksmiths to repair and purchase your armor as well as weapons. Ezio has the ability to swim and drive small boats as well as a flying machine built by Leonardo da Vinci. The assassination options have increased dramatically this time around. Missions will now have multiple options reach your objective. Ubisoft has hopefully answered many of people's issues with the original game and could have a serious award contender.

Video Games Loop Turns 1 Year Old Today

Today marks the one year anniversary of our site going live and we wanted to do a quick post to thank everybody for their support.
The last year has flew by since the site went live and we want to make sure and thank everybody for their support, because we couldn't have done it without you. We have big plans for this site in the future and we hope you will all be along for the ride.
We want to thank our family and friends for all of their help and support. Last but not least, we especially want to thank the readers. This site is for you and we hope that you keep coming back to see what we have been up to. This is the first year of many to come and we can't wait to see what the future holds.

New Alan Wake Police Escape Gameplay Video Released

Remedy Entertainment has released some more gameplay videos for Alan Wake that were debuted during the latest episode of GTTV.
Alan Wake has been one of those games that we only get a small glimpse of the game and then it disappears for awhile. On the latest episode of GTTV, we get to see another good size video of the gameplay. One of Alan Wake's biggest offerings is the creepy atmosphere and it really shines when Alan is trying to escape from the police through the dark woods. You can hear dogs barking in the distance as they try to find you and you can just feel the tension in the air. Alan Wake looks to plop you down in the middle of horror based television show and it looks great so far. We are glad to see more of the game and we hope to see more in the upcoming months.

New Super Mario Bros Wii Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer Released

Nintendo has released a multiplayer gameplay trailer for the New Super Mario Bros. Wii game that is being released today.
The New Super Mario Bros. Wii gameplay trailer shows off the frantic multiplayer co-op action that the game offers up to four players. We get to see multiple levels from the follow up to New Super Mario Bros game on the DS. Any old school video games fan that spent endless hours with their NES, can't help but smile when they watch trailers from this game. The game's reception has been really good so far. It is currently sitting at 87 on Metacritic. Nintendo hopes that the critical reception will equate into huge sales numbers. Especially after Reggie through down the gauntlet that the New Super Mario Bros. Wii would outsell the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on a single console. Now that we know that Modern Warfare 2 shattered all records with their opening day domination, I think Reggie should be working on his concession speech to Infinity Ward.

Assassin's Creed 2 Looting Mission Gameplay Video Released

Ubisoft has released a new gameplay video for Assassin's Creed 2 to tide us over until the game's release next week.
The new Assassin's Creed 2 gameplay video shows off one of the game's looting missions. It gives a good demonstration on how there are many different ways to accomplish your goal. The looting mission shown has Ezio robbing 3 chests and then stealing a boat. In the first part of the mission, Ezio decides to go around the guards to grab the loot. To grab the second chest, Ezio decides to hire some thieves to distract the guards. The third part of the mission, Ezio uses a pretty cool maneuver where he kills a guard, tosses the body so the other guards will investigate, and then throws a smoke bomb to distract them. I love the variety of ways that Assassin's Creed 2 is offering you to finish your mission. In the first game, there were only so many ways to meet your goals and it got a little repetitive, but I still really enjoyed it.
